Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems may receive basic technical information whenever a page loads:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring site, when one is supplied
- Visited pages and approximate time spent
- Device category and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We and our analytics services use them to combine traffic information, such as which pages receive visits and where sessions end. A browser can reject cookies, though disabling them may change how parts of the website function.
What We Do With This Data
- Sending a submitted search to the selected provider
- Maintaining site availability and performance
- Finding and correcting technical faults
- Measuring which material visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The published material identifies where King George County records can be requested from the sheriff, the local courts, the Virginia State Police CCRE, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a third-party record or consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their own privacy terms, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information placed in those tools. We do not control those practices. Review the named provider's policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the King George County Sheriff's Office, Virginia courts, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, that destination's privacy policy controls. Read it before giving the destination personal data.
Some advertising companies may use their own systems to follow activity across websites for targeted advertising.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be received by:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a query you submit
- Advertising networks serving material on the pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, a deletion request may be made.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may create added rights based on residence. Virginia's VFOIA, Code § 2.2-3700 et seq., governs qualifying access to public bodies rather than this private site, while Code § 19.2-389 governs CCRE criminal-history dissemination. Visitors may still:
- Request deletion of applicable personal data
- Ask to see personal information held about them
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Object to certain forms of processing
